Since ancient times music has been considered the ultimate form of art. It is a perfect representation of the cosmos as opposed to chaos.
Music trancends time and space. Its influence is not bound by the period in which it is created, or the purpose it served.
Musical pieces are distinguished for defining order, proportions and rythm. There is a tangible interrelationship between mathematics and music, which has been explored by scientists and musicians. Patterns in musical pieces were found and as a result, music is often used as a measure for all the other forms of art. On the other hand researchers fail to discover the reason behind the reaction music insites in man, physical and mental.
When compared to music one form of art is considered closest. Architecture utilizes its tools to embody refined melodies in concrete, wood, stone, glass or steel. It is often reffered to as frozen or petrified music.
